The transgressive body is the focus of my work. In the topsy-turvy world of the camivalesque, all hierarchical differences are temporarily removed. The '"classical' body of the center which categorizes class: race, and gender into a homogeneous social code gives way to the grotesque where excess and disorder are celebrated. Swollen inflated forms made of latex hold sway, comic overstatements associated with the giant prevail. Their materiality accentuates the temporaL an essence shared with living bodies. The scale and material of these works in\lite the viewer to partake in carnivalesque humor an exaggeration.
